I originally trained as a sculptor gaining both a BA Hons in Fine Art in 1974 and a Master of Fine Art Degree in 1976 at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. I was awarded the Boise Travelling Scholarship (used to visit West coast of Ireland and Arran Is) in 1976. In following years I exhibited my large scale landscape inspired sculpture in group and solo shows in the North and in London. One of my sculptures was sited in Grizedale Forest Cumbria.

In later years I turned to painting with landscape remaining the inspiration. Frequent expeditions to Scotland's remote islands from St Kilda to Shetland's Northern Isles gave rise to a passionate & powerful body of coast based work. Trekking expeditions in Nepal, Greenland & New Zealand inspired a dramatic series of mountain drawings & paintings.

Recent projects continue to combine my passion for walking and working outdoors, responding to land, sea and sky .
